A Long Trip to South America

Me, preparing him: "Jaylen, it is going to be a long 4 hour car ride to Cape Cod."

Elapsed Time: 12 minutes

Jaylen: Now are we close?

Elapsed Time: 2 hours

Jaylen: "Oh my gosh, are we in South America now?"

After arriving and settling into our cottage

Me:  "OK, let's go get dinner."

Jaylen:  "Go eat dinner? But it's gonna take a really long time!"

At first I could not figure out what he meant, but realized he thought we were going to drive the 4 hours back home to eat, since we rarely eat dinner anywhere but home.  Love how his mind works.

Jaylen stood and watched the waves for an hour, then sat and watched for an hour.  He didn't want to play with sand toys, collect shells, or do anything except watch the waves.  Autism + moving water = LOVE

Thank you to my sister for finally forcing me to get away with her and the boys.  She booked the cottage and was going with or without me.
