ADHD Linked to Pesticides!

Sometimes I feel like there is nothing safe anymore.  Here is a very interesting video about the new link found between ADHD and pesticides on produce.

Shame on us for thinking giving our kids fruits and vegetables was good for them. This is getting tiring...

Slimdown Sundays

I was down 1 more pound this week!  So 35 altogether!!!

Only 25 pounds left to go.  As if that is some easy task!  But I am happy.

One of my new favorite treats is the New Breyer's Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches. They have them in brownie and chocolate chip cookie dough flavors.  Are they as good as a regular full fat chipwich, no.  Not even close really.  But they will do for this new healthier lifestyle.  Definitely a good low calorie treat.

I also realized I never talk about my clothing changes.  I have had to completely get rid of all the pants I was wearing 5 months ago.  I went to the old "thin clothes tub" and pulled out those jeans and pants everyone says you should just toss because you will never wear again.  Well nanny-nanny-boo-boo, I kept 'em and am wearing 'em again.  Including one pair of jeans I wore once and then got pregnant with Jaylen 3 1/2 years ago!

Get to know Jaylen - A Beautiful Mind

I would love to give everyone a glimpse into Jaylen's world.  This is what makes Jaylen, Jaylen.

  • Cutting cheese into shapes for his school snack means I Love You way more than a note from me.

  • He can spend eternity playing with rocks, sand, cut grass, leaves, dirt, and water. At a birthday party we went to recently he spent a little while playing with toys and the other kids, and then just played with the little gravel rocks they had in the garden area for about an hour. At first I was a little embarrassed and thought I should force him to play, but then I realized, nope, he's happy. That's what matters.

  • He can write numbers on paper for hours on end.

  • When he was non verbal he used to point to license plates and make us read them.  On every single car we passed.

  • His memory is beyond amazing, He remembers things from when he was only 2.  I mean concrete memories.  The other day he told me what level we parked in at a parking garage at the Aquarium 5 weeks ago.

  • He knows the numbers to anyone's house we have ever been to, and to everyone on our street

  • He recites lines from shows all the time.  For an entire week it was, "Holy Rings of Salad (really it was Saturn, but he didn't get that, from Wow, Wow, Wubbzy.  One of my favorites was, "The suspense is killing me" from the Wonder Pets.

  • He's been doing shape sorters and puzzles since he was 6 months old.

  • If you try to do any form of pretend play he will look at you like you are crazy.  He just does not get it.  He is way too literal.  However, the other day, after pushing and pushing I got him to do a small Wonder Pets scene with me using blocks and his figurines.

There is so much more to say, but that's good for now.  My sister constantly tells me to write these things down so we don't forget.  So here you go.  I hope to add onto this list as time goes on.

Quirky, yes.

Smart, yes.

Frustrating, yes.

The love of my life, absolutely.

Mother's Day Circus

I had a great Mother's Day!  I lost 3 more pounds (see Slimdown Sunday post below) taking me to a total of 34 pounds lost.

My husband really did take care of everything around the house and with the boys for the day. Jaylen had made me a picture and a candle holder at school.

I don't know why he is making that face?

Then we went to the circus!  The boys had a blast! Even the ride there was fun. When we stopped to get Wendy's for lunch and i asked Jaylen what he wanted he said, "No, no lunch.  I just want to go the circus. Circus first, then we can eat."

Nothing beats a light up spinning toy and an escalator!

I know, I know.  I get it.  Cruelty to animals.  They really don't belong in the circus.  Don't worry the protesters gave us a hard time on the way out.

At the preshow we got on the floor and saw men on stilts and the boys got tattoos!

Too much excitement! (Pardon my fat arm...)

Then Gerald made me surf and turf, lobster and filet mignon.

And then yesterday was Mother's Day tea at Jaylen's school.

I lost 3 more pounds. 34 total!!!

I can't believe I am doing Slimdown Sunday on a Tuesday, but that is just how life has been around here lately!  My priorities have been taking a journey and fitting everything in is getting very difficult.

But this week I lost 3 more pounds!  I stuck to my diet strictly except for the occasional chips or cookie here and there.  Then 2 "off" meals at Wendy's (even though I picked a healthier option), and 3 slices of pizza (that's just a plain ol' oops!).  But even still, sticking to 1200-1500 calories all the other days paid off.  I also did a lot of yard work which I know burned a whole lot of calories.

Look at this awesome downhill slant at the end!  Ohhhhh!!!!  Love it!

And I feel like I am already off to a great start for this week.  Only 26 pounds left till goal!

I just speak my mind

Thank you Kerry and Paul at The Butler Way for my award!  I will now write 10 random, and HONEST things about me:
  1. I only wash my hair every two days.
  2. I actually really love my mother in law.  Very rare, but it's true.
  3. I do not like talking on the phone.  I do it for work, but chatting on the phone; not my thing.
  4. As soon as I decided not to watch American Idol this season, my business tripled, hmmm, imagine that.
  5. I hate onions, except in French Onion Soup
  6. I hate chick flicks too.  Especially romantic comedies.  Give me horror or action please.
  7. At any given time at my house you will hear me losing my temper.  That's the truth.
  8. I cut our backyard lawn with an edger 2 days ago because my husband did not get the lawn mower fixed.  It was absolutely ridiculous.  I am still very sore.  But the kids couldn't even play out there.  Will this happen again, depends on if he ever gets the mower fixed...
  9. I have tons of post it notes all over my desk.  Literally tons!  My desk is drowning in lists and notes upon lists upon notes on post its.
  10. I could eat an entire medium pizza all by myself.  I haven't but I could.  There I said it. It's off my chest.
I just realized I post about pizza a lot.  Not good for the old diet...

Enjoy!!!

I've lost 31 pounds! Only 29 more to go...

Welcome to a very happy edition of Slimdown Sundays!

I am officially past the halfway mark!!! I am now at 31 pounds total.  Only 29 more to go.  But looking at it that way makes me want to eat an entire pizza by myself, so let me not focus on that 29 and just concentrate on staying disciplined, changing my eating habits for life, and losing 1-2 pounds a week from here on out.

I am absolutely LOVIN' this graph!!!

I fully intend to be down 15 by my company's convention in August.  Since I will see a lot of fabulous people I only see once a year and would love to impress!  And then want to be down the whole 29 by Jaylen's 4th birthday, which is in October.

For my regular Slimdown Sundays readers, I apologize for last week's breakdown and lack of post about weight loss.  But a horrible day, because of Autism related issues, and no weight loss were enough to completely throw me off.  I had a little pity party didn't I?  Oh well, I am BACK!

On another happy note, yesterday I was awarded a designer watch on stage at May Launch for my company.  It was very exciting.  I love the watch and love the pride that comes with it for all my hard work and for helping other moms.
