Need New Toys for your Special Needs Child? Amazing Giveaway!

The lucky winner of the Fun and Function Peanut Ball is 55!  Danette wins!!!  I happen to know Danette through blogging and know that this gift will come in very handy with her 3 boys who are all on the Autism spectrum!

Thank you so much to everyone who entered!  You made doing a giveaway worthwhile.  And for my next giveaway there will be only 1 way to enter.  I think that will make it much easier for me and you!!!  FYI, I helped out people who didn't know you needed to leave separate comments for each entry.  I thought that was the right thing to do.  So you will see several replies under some entrants.

When Aviva Weiss, Occupational Therapist, found out that one of her children had sensory issues, she was unhappy with the overpriced selection of products available to help.  She also disliked how everything she found was unlike materials and toys that Neuro-Typical kids use.  Fun and Function is her way of offering affordable tools and products that are less excluding than what was formerly accessible to special needs kids and their parents.

Fun and Function is an amazing resource for all things special needs, Autism, and sensory processing issues.  Their extensive line of toys and therapy items include anything you are looking for and products you didn’t even realize you are looking for!  The first thing I did when I was contacted by Fun and Function was look at their site and I was excited about all I wanted to try.  Products for:

PT (gross and fine motor skills)
OT
oral motor therapy (grabbers, vibes, chewy tubes)
home ABA Therapy
circle time
self calming
self help
sensory integration
perception (including books, workbooks, games, building toys, and puzzles)
nutrition (vitamins and gluten free products)
social emotional skills (social stories, games, CDs, DVDs)

My wish list is overflowing with things I can't wait to buy for my son! I normally have to search, go to several stores, and then price compare for items.  With Fun and Function, everything I could ever need for my son is right there at the right price.  The catalog also has great tips on how to use their products in several different ways and for all types of disabilities.

We were given 2 items from Fun and Function to try:

The  Sens-ational Organic Cotton-Spandex tee shirt, which simulates being given a hug.  Three things put this shirt over the top.  Jaylen loves being squeezed.  If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know he loves getting into the tightest, tiniest places.  So the tight feel of this shirt all day really helps his sensory issues.  Secondly, there is no tag.  Jaylen has always hated tags so I have to search for tagless underwear, shirts, and pants.  Even if I cut the tag off it still bothers him.  At night he will scratch the tag spots on his PJ's till his skin is raw and bleeding.  So we have actually used this shirt as a pajama top too!  It is the perfect nighttime tagless squeeze!  And lastly, the shirt we got has stars, a rocket ship, and a moon.  The minute I opened the shirt he yelled "crescent moon!"  Sens-ational shirts come in several colors and designs, long and short sleeved.

We also got to try a Peanut Ball, which has proven to be hours of fun for my son with Autism, and my Neuro-Typical son.  It is perfect for Physical Therapy and exercise.  With a weight limit of 750 pounds my sons and I can all get on!  We have done bouncing, balancing, rolling sideways and longways while on and off, and laying on top and using swimming motions.  We have used it for things my son struggles with, such as pretend play, where we simulate being on a raft, pirate ship, or craft to go rescue animals (think Wonder Pets).  The box had several other ideas we tried, including laying on top of your back and feeling the weightlessness.  Jaylen doesn't love this, but it is really good for him to do every now and then.  Xavier loves it!

I also love the tips, articles, and reviews on the site.  The first time I visited I saw, "Is it Sensory or Behavioral?"  That really spoke to me; a question I constantly struggle with.  With Fun and Function I get the feeling they are not a company intent on meeting a quota, but on helping others.  As a special needs mom I can really respect that.  It is not easy, so anything or anyone willing to help is welcome!

Now on to the GIVEAWAY!
One of my lucky readers will win a 22" Peanut Ball (valued at $39.99) like the one I reviewed.   I am so thankful to be able to give one of my special needs mamas a gift her child will love and she will be happy to give!  You can also purchase one here.

I will keep this very simple!  I dislike when I feel overwhelmed by a giveaway!
