Autism Resources

Here are some of the best resources I've found since our journey with Autism began in 2008.

I add to this list on a consistent basis so check back often!

Websites:

TACA (Talk About Curing Autism) - very family friendly site full of resources including first steps after diagnosis, diet foods and sample menus, and local groups to meet.

Age of Autism - full of information and other resources concerning every aspect of Autism.

Autism Research Institute - focus on diagnosis and treatment, and the DAN (Defeat Autism Now) movement.

Generation Rescue - Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey's organization devoted to reversing Autism and it's symptoms.

Autism One - a site with tons of resources and info, but also great for networking and meeting others

Parents (Autism Search Results) - Parents magazine website has a lot of good articles, catered to us everyday parents.

50 Great Blogs and Links for Autism Teacher (and Parents) - This is a great resource of the best Autism sites.

Books:

Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wishes You Knew by Ellen Notbohm
Told from a child with Autism's perspective, this is the most meaningful book I have read since Jaylen's diagnosis.  It is simple, yet full of information.  It is a quick read, yet I refer to it often still now.

My Brother Charlie by Holly Robinson Peete and Ryan Elizabeth Peete
A great book for kids affected by Autism personally, or through someone they know who is diagnosed.  This is a bedtime book for us once a week.  My son loves it and picks it often, even though he has yet to realize why he is like Charlie.  Read my full review.

Social Networking Groups:

People who know me know that I am an active social networker.  Here are a few sites and groups I belong to that have been great finds for me.

Blog Net News - Autism Section  - a social site for those of us who blog about Autism

autism-pdd.net - a great forum with tons of support.  There are many people who are on the spectrum posting to this site which I just love and admire.

Autism Key  - another great active forum

Autism Channel - another great active forum
